Our business is now in it’s fourth generation. We have a long and proud tradition of taking care of the people of Elphin and the surrounding area.
We are fourth generation undertakers with a long and proud tradition of taking care of all of our customers’ needs at funeral time and afterwards. We provide a Nationwide service.
My grandfather Patrick Brady (pictured outside the shop in 1945, with his daughters Marie and Patty and neighbour Eileen Walker) after serving his time in Barrett’s of Carrick on Shannon, opened his new business on Main Street, Elphin in 1921 with his wife Kathleen (née Collins). Over the past 100 years this has included a grocery shop, undertakers, bar, agri supplies, agri machinery sales, drapery, travel agency and a bakery.
Patrick died in 1948 and my father Sean Brady (pictured), who was involved in the family business from a young age, then took over the running of the business with his mother Kathleen. My father was a great community and business man, raising nine children with my late mother Mary (nee Leydon). He left an indelible impression on many. His legacy lives on in all the stories, etched in the minds of his many friends who have shared yarns about a good deed or memorable encounter my father was involved in and which we still hear about, even up to the present day.
After my father’s untimely death in 1987 I took over the family business and today run it with my wife Mary (Carroll), my sons Aaron and Sean and daughter Aimee.
